Story Transcript:

Ca: En un dia radiants al bulliciós centre de Barcelona, Marta, Jordi i Carla es van abocar amb entusiasme a una missió: ensenyar a un grup de turistes les regles per jugar a un popular joc de cartes català. Enmig de l’excitant mercat de la Boqueria i amb els colors de les parades de fruites i el barreada de les veus com a teló de fons, van dibuixar un cercle d'aprenentatge amb les cadires de terrassa i una baralla de cartes.
En: On a radiant day in the bustling center of Barcelona, Marta, Jordi, and Carla enthusiastically embarked on a mission: to teach a group of tourists the rules of playing a popular Catalan card game. Amidst the exciting Boqueria market, with the colors of the fruit stalls and the hum of voices as a backdrop, they arranged chairs on the terrace and laid out a deck of cards.

Ca: Marta, amb una baralla ben estreta, va començar a explicar. "El primer que heu de saber", va dir, "és que les cartes es reparteixen de dreta a esquerra". Un dels turistes, en sentir això, de seguida va agafar les cartes i va començar a repartir-les de dreta a esquerra... però en l’ordre literal, passant primer totes les cartes de la part dreta del mà. Amb això es va desencadenar el primer riure de la jornada.
En: Marta, with a tightly shuffled deck, began to explain. "The first thing you need to know," she said, "is that the cards are dealt from right to left." One of the tourists, upon hearing this, immediately took the cards and started dealing them from right to left...but in the literal order, passing all the cards from the right side first. This triggered the first burst of laughter of the day.

Ca: A continuació, Jordi va intentar explicar la importància del pal de trumfo, però un turista confús va creure que deien "triomf" i va començar a aplaudir i a cridar, pensant que havia guanyat alguna cosa. Una onada de riures va esclatar entre la multitud que s'havia reunit per veure l'espectacle.
En: Next, Jordi tried to explain the importance of the trump suit, but a confused tourist thought they said "triomf" (triumph) and began applauding and cheering, thinking they had won something. A wave of laughter erupted among the crowd that had gathered to watch the spectacle.

Ca: Finalment, la Carla intentava detallar el procés de cantar les figures. Un dels turistes, entenedor de l'expressió literal, es va posar de peu, va agafar les seves cartes i les va començar a "cantar", literalment! El ritme curiós del seu cante va confondre uns quants però va encendre les rialles de la resta de l'auditori, que ja saltaven de gom a gom.
En: Finally, Carla attempted to detail the process of announcing the face cards. One of the tourists, taking the expression literally, stood up, took their cards, and started "singing" them, quite literally! The curious rhythm of their singing confused a few people, but it ignited laughter from the rest of the audience, who were already jumping with joy.

Ca: Tot i els malentesos, l'esperit de divertiment va anar creixent i fins i tot altres espectadors es van afegir a aquest experiment d'aprenentatge. Finalment, malgrat les confusions, els turistes van agafar la idea del joc. Amb alguns errors encara, van repartir les cartes, van triar el trumfo i fins i tot van cantar les figures, aquesta vegada sense cançons.
En: Despite the misunderstandings, the spirit of fun grew, and even other onlookers joined in on this learning experiment. Eventually, despite the confusion, the tourists grasped the idea of the game. With a few mistakes still, they dealt the cards, chose the trump suit, and even announced the face cards, this time without singing.

Ca: Així, en un dia en aparença normal a la Boqueria, Marta, Jordi i Carla van intercanviar risades i malentesos amb una colla de turistes animats. Tot i no aconseguir ensenyar perfectament les regles del joc, van oferir una tarda inoblidable ple de rialles, a la qual es van sumar fins i tot venedors i clients del mercat. Una cosa va quedar clara però: la màgia d'aquest joc no resideix només en saber jugar, sinó en compartir i gaudir el joc amb bona companyia.
En: And so, on an apparently ordinary day at the Boqueria, Marta, Jordi, and Carla exchanged laughter and misunderstandings with a lively group of tourists. Although they didn't manage to teach the rules of the game perfectly, they offered an unforgettable afternoon filled with laughter, joined even by market vendors and customers. One thing became clear, though: the magic of this game lies not only in knowing how to play but in sharing and enjoying the game with good company.
