Story Transcript:

Ja: 東京の井の頭公園からすぐの場所にある美しいペンションに、ユキとタカシ、この2人の友人が、大都会の喧騒から逃れるために集まった。ユキは穏やかな性格の一方、タカシはいつも活気に満ちていて、どこかをうろついているような人だった。
En: In a beautiful pension located just near Inokashira Park in Tokyo, Yuki and Takashi, these two friends, gathered to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. Yuki had a calm personality, while Takashi was always full of energy, like someone wandering around.

Ja: この日、2人は東京の中心部、新宿へ観光に出かけることにした。しかし東京という都市はユキとタカシにとっては未知の領域だった。とりわけタカシは地図を読むのが苦手で、ユキがいつも道案内をしていた。
En: On this day, the two decided to go sightseeing to Shinjuku, the central part of Tokyo. However, Tokyo was an unknown territory for Yuki and Takashi. Especially Takashi was not good at reading maps, so Yuki always served as their guide.

Ja: 新宿駅に着いた時、その人ごみと大きさに圧倒された。ユキは地下のコンコースでタカシを見失ってしまった。タカシもユキを探していたが、人波に押され、一度見たこともない地下Shop広場に迷い込んでしまった。
En: When they arrived at Shinjuku Station, they were overwhelmed by the crowd and the size of the city. Yuki lost sight of Takashi in the underground concourse. Takashi was also looking for Yuki, but pushed by the crowds, he wandered into an underground shopping plaza he had never seen before.

Ja: その時、ふさがりきった顔をしたタカシは、旗を振っている人物の執念深さに引かれ、その人たちが行く方向に従って歩き始めた。遅れずについて行けるようにと、周囲に気を配りながら歩いていたのだが、振り返ったときには、己が観光客の一団になっていることに気がついた。
En: At that moment, with a frustrated look on his face, Takashi was drawn to the determination of the people waving flags, and began to walk in the direction they were going. He was trying to be mindful of his surroundings so he could keep up without falling behind, but when he looked back, he realized he had become part of a group of tourists.

Ja: ユキは駅のホームに戻ると、遠くで見かけた観光客のグループにタカシの姿を発見。タカシが迷っていることを理解し、彼女は彼に駆け寄った。ユキが到着すると、タカシは驚いた表情で彼女を見つめ、顔を紅潮させた。
En: When Yuki returned to the station platform, she spotted Takashi in the distance with a group of tourists. Understanding that Takashi was lost, she ran towards him. As Yuki arrived, Takashi looked at her with a surprised expression and his face turned red.

Ja: 「よく見つけたね、ユキ。」タカシは言った。「また君に助けられたよ。地図が苦手な僕には、君が必要なんだ。」
En: "Nice find, Yuki," Takashi said. "Once again, I was saved by you. I need you, being bad with maps."
