Story Transcript:

Hu: Időnként Budapest zegzugos utcáinak színes forgatagában idegen arcok is feltűnnek.
En: Sometimes in the colorful hustle and bustle of the winding streets of Budapest, unfamiliar faces appear.

Hu: Ma is egy ilyen idegen tűnt ki, Árpád szemében, aki elszántan várakozott a teli 7-es busz megállójában, a Blaha Lujza téren.
En: Today, one such stranger stood out to Árpád as he patiently waited at the crowded bus stop of line 7 in Blaha Lujza Square.

Hu: Átellenben pedig az említett idegen folyamatosan nézegetett egy Budapestről szóló útikönyvet, majdnem úgy, mintha tolmácsot keresett volna.
En: Across from him, the aforementioned stranger was continuously looking at a travel guidebook about Budapest, almost as if seeking a translator.

Hu: Személye kíváncsisággal töltötte el Árpádot, aki eddigeli napja hosszadalmas monotón áramlása után maga is szívesen vágyott valami szokatlanra.
En: His presence sparked curiosity in Árpád, who after a long day of monotony found himself eager for something out of the ordinary.

Hu: Úgy hát nem is volt számára kérdés, hogy a férfi felé lépjen és segítséget ajánljon.
En: So it was no question for him to approach the man and offer help.

Hu: Ahogy közelebb ért, Árpád már jobban láthatta az idegent: magas, kopaszodó férfi volt, ramatyos farmernadrágban és hawaii ingben.
En: As he got closer, Árpád could see the stranger more clearly: a tall, balding man in tattered jeans and a Hawaiian shirt.

Hu: Rövid mondatait leheletén a whisky fanyar illata kísérte.
En: The scent of whisky accompanied his short sentences on his breath.

Hu: "Segíthetek valamiben?
En: "Can I help you with something?"

Hu: " - kérdezte Árpád magyarul a férfitól, aki a mondat hallatán felkapta fejét, de értetlenül bámult rá.
En: - Árpád asked the man in Hungarian, who upon hearing the sentence raised his head but stared back blankly.

Hu: "Elnézést, nem beszélek magyarul" - mondta angolul a férfi.
En: "Sorry, I don't speak Hungarian," - the man said in English.

Hu: Árpád arcára mosoly ült, majd magyarul folytatta a beszélgetést, mert hiszen magyar volt és Budapest utcáin megfeledkezett az angol nyelvről.
En: A smile appeared on Árpád's face, and he continued the conversation in Hungarian because, after all, he was Hungarian and had forgotten about the English language wandering the streets of Budapest.

Hu: "Megmutathatom az Andrássy utcát, ha gondolja.
En: "I can show you Andrassy Avenue if you'd like."

Hu: " - ajánlotta fel Árpád, azonban a férfi továbbra is értetlenül nézett rá, majd egy nagy sóhaj után összecsapta az útikönyvet és bólogatott.
En: - Árpád offered, but the man continued to look puzzled, then let out a big sigh, closed the guidebook, and nodded.

Hu: Árpád jónak látta, ha beveti Enikőt is, aki az angol nyelv ismerőjeként sokszor mentette már meg hasonló helyzetekben.
En: Árpád thought it best to bring in Enikő, who, being proficient in English, had often saved the day in similar situations.

Hu: Gyorsan előkapta telefonját, felhívta a lányt, és arról értesítette, hogy oda kell jönnie a Blahára, mert ott áll velük a buszmegállóban egy férfi, aki egy szót sem ért magyarul.
En: He quickly pulled out his phone, called the girl, and informed her that she needed to come to Blaha because there was a man there at the bus stop who didn't speak a word of Hungarian.

Hu: Mire Enikő megérkezett a helyszínre, már le is telt a várakozás rögtönzött fél órája, így a közelbe érkező buszra együtt szállhattak fel.
En: By the time Enikő arrived at the scene, their impromptu half-hour of waiting had passed, so they could board the approaching bus together.

Hu: A nevetés és a nézéseik között, lassacskán elkezdett megérkezni a közös nyelv.
En: Amid laughter and glances, they slowly started to find a common language.

Hu: Enikő ugyanis elkezdett angolul beszélni a férfinak, aki eddig zavartan nézett mindkettőjükre.
En: Enikő began talking to the man in English, who had been looking confused at both of them.

Hu: A nap véget ért, és Árpáddal együtt boldogan indultak haza.
En: As the day came to an end, Árpád and Enikő happily headed home.

Hu: Ennek ellenére, a nap történései után azt jutott eszébe: hogy néha még itthon is el kell felejteni a magyart, a való életben való eligazodáshoz.
En: Nevertheless, after the day's events, it occurred to them that sometimes even at home, one needs to forget Hungarian to navigate real life.

Hu: Ez a nap tanította meg nekik, hogy ha valamihez hozzászokunk, néha hajlamosak vagyunk elfelejteni másokat, akik másként értelmezik és tapasztalják a világot.
En: This day taught them that when we get used to something, we tend to forget about others who interpret and experience the world differently.
