Story Transcript:

He: השקשוקה ברחוב קרליבך בתל אביב מחירה את האוויר בטעמים של טמטים ומרק ביצים. "תשוקתן!" קרא אחד הרוכלים, מתנשא בערמת התפוחים הבהירים שלו. שירה הייתה שם, במיוחד בשביל הבננות המתוקות שהיו סמוך. היא שקלה את זוג הבננות הלבנות והחמות בידיה, והושיבה כמה מטבעות בידו של הרוכל.
En: The falafel stand on Carlebach Street in Tel Aviv filled the air with flavors of cumin and eggplant soup. "Delicious!" exclaimed one of the vendors, proudly displaying his clear apple pile. Shira was there, especially for the sweet bananas that were nearby. She weighed the pair of white and ripe bananas in her hands and handed some coins to the vendor.

He: מבלי לחשוב, היא אמרה ▪ "סליחה, אני רוצה עוד בננה." הרוכל, סוחף עיין, הבינה שהוא הלך לעירו הנכונה. הוא התיישב והחזיר לה דולר על הבננה המיותרת. שירה, חושה במבוכה, הבינה שמה שהיא רצתה היה "תודה" ולא "סליחה".
En: Without thinking, she said, "Sorry, I want another banana." The vendor, scrutinizing, realized he had made a mistake. He sat down and returned a dollar for the unnecessary banana. Shira, feeling awkward, understood that what she wanted to say was "Thank you" and not "Sorry."

He: היא דרכה בבושה מהשקיעה האדומה שקיבלה מהרוכל, אך המשך היום היה הרבה מעניין יותר. שירה מצאה את עצמה לא מסוגלת לעצור את התחושה של הלם והשתייקה. היא התמקדה בה !=מציאת דרך חזרה הביתה, לא רוצה להשאיר את השוק בהלם.
En: She walked away shyly from the red sunset she received from the vendor, but the rest of the day was much more interesting. Shira found herself unable to contain the feeling of shock and remained silent. She focused on finding her way back home, not wanting to leave the market in a daze.

He: מעל ראשה, השמיים התקדםו לגוונות של סגול ונימם, כשהחיים ברחובות תל אביב לא הפסיקו, בסלע. אולי אף אחד לא שים לב, אבל שירה הרגישה דפוקה. היא התמקדה בצעדי החזרה הביתה, מתחילה להבין שהיא צריכה להתנצל בפני הרוכל.
En: Above her head, the sky progressed into shades of purple and pink, as life in the streets of Tel Aviv continued, undisturbed. Maybe no one noticed, but Shira felt messed up. She focused on her steps back home, beginning to realize that she needed to apologize to the vendor.

He: ביום שאחרי היא החזירה לשוק, הכתן מה רוכל שהיא צריכה להביא לו משהו. הרוכל, מרגש ומבוהל, אמר לה "תודה" - ושירה יודעת שזה בעצם "נחמה". מאז, שירה היא לא מביאה למישהו משהו, היא מדי פעם מביאה לו "תודה". היא הבינה את המשמעות של דברים, ואיך שגיאה פשוטה יכולה להוביל למשמעות חדשה.
En: The next day, she returned to the market, unsure of what to bring the vendor. The vendor, emotional and bewildered, said to her, "Thank you" - and Shira knew it was actually "forgiveness." Since then, Shira doesn't bring something to someone; she brings "thank you" from time to time. She understood the meaning of things and how a simple mistake can lead to a new understanding.
