mostra másSince starting in London in 2014 the girls have constantly been stereotyped, typecast and often under appreciated in a musical landscape that likes everything wrapped up into an easily digestible and identifiable package.
Blending equal parts punk, rap, pop, hard rock and beyond, Nova Twins not only push the boundaries of musical acceptance, they then blur it beyond recognition.
After their debut album Who Are The girls sparked the interest of both fans and critics alike Nova Twins quickly found themselves supporting the likes of Bring Me The Horizon and Enter Shikari, their diversity and refusal to play by the rules endearing them to a wide audience.
They are currently classed as one of the UK’s premiere live bands, a statement Australian fans will get to judge for themselves when the girls trek over to the land Down Under as part of this years Good Things Festival.
HEAVY caught up with Amy and Georgia earlier this week to find out more information, starting with just what Australian audiences can expect from their show.
“A high energy set with good vibes,” Georgia promised. “We just wanna have fun on the stage. We're excited to see what the Australian audience is gonna be like."
"It's like a little recipe that we've got together and they're gonna taste that juice,” Amy added, laughing.
With the global touring circuit starting to get back into full swing it is interesting to find out from an artists perspective how different touring life is since the world-wide pandemic.
"There's loads of different things we've noticed,” Georgia fired back. “It's nice to see the bills are looking more like diverse. We're not the only women and women of colour on the bills now which is progress, and it what is also nice to see is people coming out and really enjoying the moment of festivals. Sometimes when things are taken away from you, you appreciate it more. There's definitely this whole other electric buzz that's running through the festivals that we've been playing and it's just madness. It's been really fun to be a part of it again and feel live music as it once was but actually maybe more intense."
In the full interview, Nova Twins talk more about coming over for Good Things and who they are looking forward to playing with, their recent album Supernova and how it has been received, the early days of the band and where they fit in, finding their place in the music business, the eclectic blending of genres and how they make it work and more.
