Story Transcript:
En: In the old city of Dubrovnik, next to the clear sea that kisses the stone walls, there lived a boy named Marko.
En: Marko had bright, adventurous eyes and was always ready for a joke.
Hr: Jednog sunčanog dana, dok je šetao uz obalu, primijetio je nešto neobično.
En: One sunny day, while walking along the shore, he noticed something unusual.
En: On the other side, there was a girl named Ivana, who had a small house near the sea.
Hr: Ivana je voljela sve životinje, a najviše svog kućnog ljubimca, kornjaču po imenu Tarta.
En: Ivana loved all animals, especially her pet turtle named Tarta.
Hr: Tarta nije bila obična kornjača.
En: Tarta was no ordinary turtle.
En: She had a green pattern on her shell that shimmered in the sun.
Hr: Jednog dana, Ivana je odlučila odvesti Tartu na šetnju uz more.
En: One day, Ivana decided to take Tarta for a walk by the sea.
En: She put her in the sun to warm up a little while she read a book in the shade of a nearby tree.
En: Marko, who was strolling along the shore in search of the perfect skipping stone, spotted what looked like the perfect, smooth stone.
Hr: Uzbuđeno je prišao i podigao "kamen".
En: Excitedly, he approached and picked up the "stone."
Hr: "Ha!
En: "Ha!"
Hr: " - pomislio je.
En: he thought.
Hr: "Ovo će biti rekord.
En: "This is going to be a record."
En: Marko swung his arm and threw the stone towards the water.
En: But instead of the expected skipping sound, a strange noise was heard, and then he saw Tarta floating in the water.
En: Marko shouted once he realized what he had done.
En: He ran towards the water to save Tarta, getting soaked up to his waist.
En: At that moment, Ivana looked up from her book and saw Tarta's pattern in the sea.
Hr: U panici, potrčala je prema Marku.
En: In a panic, she ran towards Marko.
Hr: "Što si učinio?
En: "What have you done?"
Hr: " - upitala je plačnim glasom.
En: she asked in a tearful voice.
Hr: Marko je, bez riječi, zaronio u more i pronašao Tartu kako mirno pliva.
En: Speechless, Marko dove into the water and found Tarta peacefully swimming.
Hr: Grijeh je svalio na sebe.
En: He took the blame for the mishap.
Hr: Nije mogao vjerovati što je učinio.
En: He couldn't believe what he had done.
En: He returned Tarta to Ivana, who checked her turtle, worried that she might have been injured.
Hr: Na sreću, Tarta je bila dobro.
En: Luckily, Tarta was fine.
En: Marko apologized to Ivana and promised to take care of Tarta whenever she asked him to.
Hr: Od tog dana, Marko i Ivana postali su dobri prijatelji, a Marko je naučio važnu lekciju.
En: From that day on, Marko and Ivana became good friends, and Marko learned an important lesson.
En: Since then, before throwing a stone, he always double-checked if it was just a stone or someone's pet.
En: So, all the days in Dubrovnik became a little happier, and the sea by the old town acquired another story that was told among the stone streets.
En: Everyone knew about Marko and the turtle that almost became a skipping stone.
