It: Un giorno, nella splendida città di Roma, in una piccola piazza accanto gli scalini di Trinità dei Monti, viveva un uomo di nome Giuseppe. Autentico romano, ossuto e dal sorriso contagioso, difendeva orgogliosamente la sua tradizione, in particolar modo una: l’arte di gesticolare. Ogni movimento, ogni gesto, ogni accento aveva una vita propria nel linguaggio italiano, secondo Giuseppe.
En: One day, in the splendid city of Rome, in a small square near the steps of the Trinità dei Monti, lived a man named Giuseppe. An authentic Roman, thin and with a contagious smile, he proudly defended his tradition, in particular one: the art of gestures. Every movement, every gesture, every accent had its own life in the Italian language, according to Giuseppe.

It: Appena giunta in città, Sofia, una giovane viaggiatrice proveniente dal freddo nord Europa, fu subito affascinata da Giuseppe e dalla danza dei suoi gesti. Volendo capire completamente l'arte di gesticolare, Sofia chiese a Giuseppe di diventare la sua guida e il suo maestro.
En: Just arrived in the city, Sofia, a young traveler from cold northern Europe, was immediately fascinated by Giuseppe and the dance of his gestures. Wanting to fully understand the art of gesturing, Sofia asked Giuseppe to become her guide and teacher.

It: "Signor Giuseppe," cominciò Sofia, tentando di mantenere un'espressione seria mentre cercava di imitare le movenze fluide delle mani del signore. "Potrebbe... potrebbe insegnarmi a fare quei gesti?"
En: "Mr. Giuseppe," Sofia began, trying to maintain a serious expression as she attempted to imitate the fluid motions of the man's hands. "Could... could you teach me to make those gestures?"

It: Giuseppe osservò Sofia con gli occhi pieni di sorpresa, ma poi un ampio sorriso divampò sul suo volto. "Perché no?" rispose lui, ed iniziò a insegnarle l'abc della gesticolazione italiana.
En: Giuseppe looked at Sofia with eyes full of surprise, but then a broad smile lit up his face. "Why not?" he replied, and he began to teach her the basics of Italian gesturing.

It: Il cortile della piazza diventò il loro campo di addestramento personale. Giuseppe prese a spiegare a Sofia i segreti di ogni gesto: l’occhio guardingo, il gesto della mano per "seee certo", il dito della bocca per "stai zitto". Sofia, però, non riusciva a capirne il giusto movimento e sbagliava di continuo, riuscendo a creare dei gesti totalmente nuovi e inauditi.
En: The courtyard of the square became their personal training ground. Giuseppe started to explain to Sofia the secrets of each gesture: the watchful eye, the hand gesture for "seee of course," the finger to the mouth for "be quiet." However, Sofia couldn't grasp the right movement and kept making mistakes, managing to create completely new and unheard-of gestures.

It: Quanto più Sofia sbagliava, tanto più le risate dei romani attorno a loro crescendo. Ma la tenacia di Sofia continuò senza esitazione, cercando di apprendere e applicare i consigli di Giuseppe.
En: The more Sofia made mistakes, the more the laughter of the Romans around them grew. But Sofia's tenacity continued without hesitation, trying to learn and apply Giuseppe's advice.

It: Una serata, mentre provava il gesto del "Ma che vuoi”, fece un movimento con la mano così imbarazzante che fece scoppiare dal ridere tutti gli astanti, compresi Giuseppe.
En: One evening, while practicing the gesture of "What do you want", she made such an embarrassing hand movement that it made everyone burst into laughter, including Giuseppe.

It: Per Sofia non fu una sconfitta. Anzi, fu l'occasione perfetta. Vedendo le persone ridere, vide una luce nel tunnel. "Se non posso gesticolare come voi," disse Sofia alla folla, ancora ridendo. "Allora farò in modo che i miei gesti vi facciano ridere."
En: For Sofia, it wasn't a defeat. On the contrary, it was the perfect opportunity. Seeing people laughing, she saw a light at the end of the tunnel. "If I can't gesture like you," Sofia said to the crowd, still laughing. "Then I will make sure my gestures make you laugh."

It: Fu così che Sofia trasformò il suo punto debole nel suo punto di forza, conquistando l'approvazione di Giuseppe e l'amore del pubblico. La sua determinazione vinse, e pur non essendo nativamente italiana, Sofia divenne un'emblematica figura che portava il sorriso sulla piazza di Trinità dei Monti.
En: And so Sofia turned her weakness into her strength, winning the approval of Giuseppe and the love of the audience. Her determination prevailed, and despite not being native Italian, Sofia became an emblematic figure bringing smiles to the Trinità dei Monti square.

It: Da allora, non c'è un giorno in cui Giuseppe non pensi a Sofia e alla sua audacia. Sofia d'altronde, non ha mai smesso di gesticolare. Perché, come ama ripetere: "Non importa quanto fallisco, finché non smetto di provarci." E Roma, con la sua eterna bellezza, continuò ad essere lo scenario di queste piccole battaglie quotidiane, tra romanità e internazionalità, tra tradizioni e risate.
En: Since then, there isn't a day when Giuseppe doesn't think of Sofia and her audacity. Sofia, on the other hand, never stopped gesturing. Because, as she loves to repeat: "No matter how much I fail, as long as I don't stop trying." And Rome, with its eternal beauty, continued to be the stage for these small daily battles, between Roman identity and internationalism, between traditions and laughter.
