Lv: Ziemas vakarā, kad debesis bija nosedzis tumšs zīmogs un pilsēta Rīga tika apgaismota ar tūkstošiem mirdzošu ielu lampiņu, Andris steidza garām Vecrīgas vecajām mūra ēkām.
En: On a winter evening, when the sky was covered with a dark veil and the city of Riga was illuminated by thousands of shining street lamps, Andris hurried past the old brick buildings of Old Riga.

Lv: Sals stāvēja gaisā, un katrs elpas mākonis pārvērtās baltā tvaikā.
En: The cold hung in the air, and every breath turned into white vapor.
