Story Transcript:

En: In the ever-bustling city of Beijing, there was a young man named Zhang Wei who journeyed from the south over mountains and hills to seek his future in Beijing. With his confidence and enthusiasm, this city gave him endless dreams. However, amidst the spicy and flavorful taste portrayed by his encounters with sandstorm-sprinkled soy sauce and dipped in chili, there was one skill he had yet to master - using chopsticks.

En: Yes, you heard it right. In the south, they use spoons and forks. His first gathering after moving to the north made him feel very embarrassed. They sat in a place called "Old Beijing Dumpling Restaurant", a brightly lit window, neat dining tables, and restaurant walls adorned with Peking opera masks. In this lively atmosphere, Zhang Wei was sweating profusely because he truly did not know how to use chopsticks.

En: That night, he tried to pick up a piece of tofu with chopsticks. Just as he nearly pinched the chopsticks onto the tofu, he exerted too much force, causing the tofu to pop up and swiftly fly across the dining table, then landing on the other side of the restaurant as if a determined wanderer propelled by the wind and waves.

En: The whole place fell silent. Zhang Wei thought this would be the monumental challenge to integrate into Beijing life, as he lowered his head in embarrassment and helplessness. However, he heard laughter - it was his friends. They were happily laughing and not mocking him, but instead making gestures to show him how to use chopsticks correctly.

En: And so, that night, in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, Zhang Wei mastered the art of using chopsticks. From then on, he never felt difficulty eating again. This experience made him understand that as long as he bravely faces problems in this city, he will surely find solutions. For him, Beijing became a place full of opportunities and friendship, a big family willing to accept and help him.

En: So, under the night sky of Gulangyu Island, Zhang Wei smiled as he licked the sauce residue off the chopsticks, savoring the city's joys and sorrows. He knew that he had found his place in Beijing.
