Story Transcript:

Nl: Het was een zonnige dag in Amsterdam. In een klein en gezellig cafeetje bij het bekende Leidseplein zaten Anna, Pieter en Sofia.
En: It was a sunny day in Amsterdam. In a small and cozy café near the famous Leidseplein, Anna, Pieter, and Sofia were sitting.

Nl: Anna was vanuit Amerika naar Nederland gekomen. Zij wilde graag de Nederlandse taal leren. Pieter en Sofia, beiden geboren en getogen in Amsterdam, hielpen haar hierbij. Maar vandaag was een speciale dag. Anna wilde het moeilijkste Nederlandse woord uitspreken: "Scheveningen".
En: Anna had come from America to the Netherlands. She wanted to learn the Dutch language. Pieter and Sofia, both born and raised in Amsterdam, were helping her with this. But today was a special day. Anna wanted to pronounce the most difficult Dutch word: "Scheveningen".

Nl: Anna had al meerdere keren geoefend. Ze keek naar Pieter, die haar altijd hielp. "Oké," zei ze, "Ik ben klaar. Het is tijd." Iedereen werd stil. Anna begon te praten, "Sche...Schefeningen?"
En: Anna had practiced several times already. She looked at Pieter, who always helped her. "Okay," she said, "I'm ready. It's time." Everyone fell silent. Anna began to speak, "Sche...Schefeningen?"

Nl: Sofia en Pieter begonnen hard te lachen! Anna had het woord hilarisch verkeerd uitgesproken. Zelfs andere mensen in het café moesten lachen.
En: Sofia and Pieter burst out laughing! Anna had hilariously mispronounced the word. Even other people in the café had to laugh.

Nl: Anna bleef het woord proberen. "Scheveningen" zei ze, maar telkens weer klonk het als "Schefeningen". Ze bleef maar falen. Sofia, vriendelijk en geduldig als ze is, gaf Anna tips. "Probeer de 'v' te zeggen zoals in 'van'."
En: Anna kept trying to say the word. "Scheveningen," she said, but each time it sounded like "Schefeningen". She just kept failing. Sofia, kind and patient as she is, gave Anna some tips. "Try to say the 'v' like in 'van'."

Nl: Maar het mocht niet baten. Anna's tong struikelde over de 'v' en de 'n' en de 'g'. Het was alsof ze een andere taal sprak. Maar ze gaf niet op. Ze probeerde het opnieuw en opnieuw. En bij de tiende poging...
En: But to no avail. Anna's tongue stumbled over the 'v' and the 'n' and the 'g'. It was as if she was speaking a different language. But she didn't give up. She tried again and again. And on the tenth attempt...

Nl: "Sche...Scheveningen!" riep ze uit.
En: "Sche...Scheveningen!" she exclaimed.

Nl: Het café werd weer stil. Sofia en Pieter keken verrast naar Anna. "Ze heeft het gedaan!" juichte Pieter.
En: The café fell silent again. Sofia and Pieter looked surprised at Anna. "She did it!" Pieter cheered.

Nl: "Nog een keer!" moedigde Sofia haar aan.
En: "One more time!" Sofia encouraged her.

Nl: "Sche...veningen!" Anna's ogen glansden van blijdschap toen ze het eindelijk juist uitsprak. Iedereen in het café begon te klappen.
En: "Sche...veningen!" Anna's eyes shone with joy as she finally pronounced it correctly. Everyone in the café started clapping.

Nl: Anna, Pieter en Sofia lachten samen, blij en voldaan. Het was een dag om nooit te vergeten voor hen. Maar vooral Anna, die erin slaagde om het moeilijkste woord in de Nederlandse taal uit te spreken. Ze had het hilarische gevecht gewonnen en had nooit opgegeven. En vanaf die dag, kon ze vol trots zeggen: "Ik kan 'Scheveningen' uitspreken!" De hele dag bleven ze vieren.
En: Anna, Pieter, and Sofia laughed together, happy and satisfied. It was a day to never forget for them. But especially for Anna, who managed to pronounce the hardest word in the Dutch language. She had won the hilarious battle and had never given up. And from that day on, she could proudly say, "I can pronounce 'Scheveningen'!" They kept celebrating all day.

Nl: Dat was de dag dat Anna haar grote doel bereikte, en het werd de mooiste herinnering uit Amsterdam van hun allemaal. Het was een perfecte dag met veel gelach, maar vooral met veel liefde. En zo eindigt ons verhaal, met Anna, Pieter, en Sofia die altijd blijven lachen, zelfs als ze 'Scheveningen' proberen te zeggen!
En: That was the day Anna achieved her big goal, and it became the most beautiful memory from Amsterdam for all of them. It was a perfect day with lots of laughter, but above all, with lots of love. And so our story ends, with Anna, Pieter, and Sofia always keeping on laughing, even as they try to say 'Scheveningen'!
