He: אבי נכנס לחומוסייה בשדרות רוטשילד בתל אביב בשעה החמה של הצהריים.
En: Avi entered a hummus restaurant on Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv in the hot afternoon hour.

He: הוא הכנס את עצמו ישירות לתוך אוויר המסעדה, מלא בניחוח שום ותיבולים ים-תיכוניים.
En: He walked straight into the restaurant's atmosphere, filled with the scent of garlic and Mediterranean spices.

He: חייך לאורח שעובר, החליף שלום חם עם המלצרית שמלקטת צלחתות.
En: He smiled at a passing guest, exchanged warm greetings with the waitress collecting plates.

He: הוא פגע באוויר שלו, אווירה מוכרת של רעשים, תנודות ואנשים.
En: He absorbed the familiar air around him, an air of noises, movements, and people.

He: אבל גם של בית.
En: But also of home.

He: היה הולך בו, במשטר הזמןה שהתבצע פעמים רבות, והתחיל: "בבקשה.
En: He was going about his business, in his usual manner that had been done many times before, and began: "Excuse me...".

He: ".
En: But then something extraordinary happened.

He: אבל אז קרה משהו חריג.
En: Something that was not included in his regular repertoire of orders slipped from his mouth.

He: מן השפה יצא משהו שאינו נמצא באוספר הרגיל של ההזמנות שלו.
En: He accidentally said: "Give me kebab."

He: אמר בטעות: "שיש קבב".
En: The waitress put the empty plate aside and looked at Avi in bewilderment.

He: השרת שם את הצלחת הריקה בצד והסתכל בתמהה על אבי.
En: Avi suddenly froze.

He: אבי תקע פתאום.
En: The war in the waitress's eyes, the detached gaze, the obvious anxiety, it all made him stop.

En: He felt the stares and the silence in the room.

En: The manager of the hummus restaurant, who had overseen every situation throughout his life, sensed the tension.

He: ישן מנהל החומוסיה שהקיף כל מצב במשך חייו הראה לכלכל את העומס.
En: He approached Avi and hurried to help.

He: התקרב אליו ומיהר לעזור.
En: To apologize.

He: להתנצל.
En: But Avi, in his youth, in his boldness, stood in the hummus restaurant amidst the gazes, and instead of apologizing, he said: "This is what happened, and I want kebab."

He: אבל אבי, בצעירותו, בראשיותו, נעמד בחומוסיה בתוך המבטים, ובמקום להתנצל, אמר: "זה מה שקרה, ואני רוצה שיש קבב".
En: The bewildered manager just stammered and declared: "No one has ever confused kebab with hummus!"

En: Yet, he still ordered him two kebabs.

En: Avi, somewhat amused by the regular word that caused him such amusement, ate the kebabs with hummus without any compromise.

He: אבי, בתמו אחרי השעשועים שיצאו לו עם המילה הרגילה, אכל את השישליקים עם החומוס ללא שום פשרה, ובדרך הביתה התחיל לשקול את האפשרות להזמנת שיש קבב בכל המקומות שהוא מזמין בהם חומוס.
En: On his way home, he started considering the possibility of ordering kebabs in every place he orders hummus.
