Story Transcript:

En: The story begins on a gloomy day in Bergen. The rain is falling. But in a small corner of the city, there is a special lady. Her name is Ingrid.

Nb: Ingrid jobber på turistkontoret. Hun liker jobben sin. Ingrid hjelper turister. Hun lærer dem om Bergen. Turister kommer fra mange land. De vil se fjordene og fjellene.
En: Ingrid works at the tourist office. She enjoys her job. Ingrid helps tourists. She teaches them about Bergen. Tourists come from many countries. They want to see the fjords and mountains.

En: One day, there are many tourists at the office. Ingrid helps many people. But there is one thing she cannot explain. Tourists ask about a Norwegian thing. They want to know about "koselig."

Nb: "Ingrid, hva betyr koselig?" spurte en turist. "Er det som varmt?" spurte en annen. "Koselig er...vel…" Ingrid tenkte. Hvordan forklarer man koselig?
En: "Ingrid, what does koselig mean?" asked one tourist. "Is it like cozy?" asked another. "Koselig is... well…" Ingrid thought. How do you explain koselig?

En: So Ingrid brought some pictures. In the pictures were Norwegian houses. They were small and red. Inside the houses, there was warm light. Outside the houses, it was dark and cold. On the tables were food, drinks, and candles. People laughed and talked around the tables.

Ingrid smilte. "Ja, det er en del av det," sa hun.
En: "This is koselig," said Ingrid. The tourists looked at the pictures. They saw warm houses and happy people. "So, koselig is like cozy?" asked a tourist. Ingrid smiled. "Yes, that's part of it," she said.

Nb: Ingrid forklarte mer. "Koselig kan være mange ting. Det kan være et varmt hus. Det kan være god mat. Det kan være en fin prat. Men det viktigste er følelsen. Det er følelsen av å være sammen. Det er følelsen av å være trygg og glad."
En: Ingrid explained more. "Koselig can be many things. It can be a warm house. It can be good food. It can be a nice chat. But the most important thing is the feeling. It's the feeling of being together. It's the feeling of being safe and happy."

Nb: Turistene hørte på. De forsto litt mer. De smilte og takket Ingrid. De skulle prøve å finne koselig.
En: The tourists listened. They understood a little more. They smiled and thanked Ingrid. They would try to find koselig.

Nb: Ingrid var glad. Hun hadde forklart koselig.
En: Ingrid was happy. She had explained koselig. Maybe it wasn't perfect, but it was her best. And she knew the tourists would understand more when they felt koselig themselves.

Nb: Så gikk Ingrid hjem. Hjemme hadde hun et lite rødt hus. Inne i huset tente hun stearinlys.
En: Then Ingrid went home. At home, she had a small red house. Inside the house, she lit candles. She made coffee. She called a friend. They talked and laughed. Outside, it was cold and dark. But next to Ingrid, it was warm and bright.

Nb: Ingrid visste det. Dette var koselig.
En: Ingrid knew it. This was koselig.

Nb: Historien slutter med Ingrid. Hun sitter i den varme stuen sin. Hun drikker kaffe og ler. Utenfor faller regnet fortsatt. Men hun bryr seg ikke. Fordi inne er det koselig.
En: The story ends with Ingrid. She sits in her warm living room. She drinks coffee and laughs. Outside, the rain is still falling. But she doesn't care. Because inside, it's koselig.
