Lt: Saulėlydžio spinduliai žaidė Vilniaus Senamiestyje, apšviesdami senas gatveles.
En: The rays of sunset played in the Old Town of Vilnius, illuminating the ancient streets.

Lt: Buvo Joninės, stebuklinga naktis, kai visi laukė stebuklų ir paslapčių.
En: It was St. John's Eve, a magical night when everyone awaited miracles and mysteries.

Lt: Eglė, jos brolis Mindaugas ir pusbrolis Dovydas susitiko Didžiojoje Rinkoje.
En: Eglė, her brother Mindaugas, and their cousin Dovydas met at the Great Market.

Lt: Žmonės šoko, dainavo, grojo muzika.
En: People were dancing, singing, and playing music.

Lt: Visi buvo laimingi.

En: As the night was drawing to a close, Eglė suddenly turned to Dovydas and asked, “Dovydas, why did our grandfather never talk about his brother?”

Lt: Dovydas sustingo.
En: Dovydas froze.

Lt: „Nežinau, Egle, bet galime paklausti senelio.”
En: “I don’t know, Eglė, but we can ask grandfather.”

Lt: Eglė nedelsė.
En: Eglė didn't hesitate.

Lt: Ji pabėgo pas senelį, kuris sėdėjo šalia laužo.
En: She ran to her grandfather, who was sitting by the bonfire.

Lt: „Seneli, norime žinoti tiesą apie tavo brolį,” – tarė ji.
En: “Grandfather, we want to know the truth about your brother,” she said.

Lt: Senelis susigraudino.
En: Grandfather was moved.

Lt: „Laikas atskleisti paslaptį,” – taręs, pradėjo pasakoti.
En: “It’s time to reveal the secret,” he said, beginning his story.

Lt: „Kai buvome jauni, mano brolis įsivėlė į baisią bėdą.

Lt: Atskleista paslaptis nustebino visus.

Lt: Dovydas atsistojęs tarė: „Tai nėra mūsų kaltė.
