Started making his own music at the age of nine,he grew up in a poverty stricken area and started running the streets around the age of Thirteen. From 2008-2013 he served a prison sentence for drug charges. Yet he is doing everything to make his community better. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Obi began performing his sophomore year in high school with a group called P.H.B (Presidential Hood Boyz). During this time Obi’s biggest inspiration was 2pac (All eyes on me) and the Houston chopped and screwed era. In 2007 the group P.H.B quickly became a success and was connected to an A&R from TVT Records, but the deal quickly fell apart when the label filed for bankruptcy in 2008.

Jay habitually found himself getting in trouble as a youth. His mom decided that a change of atmosphere would be best for him to refrain from any more problems. His family moved to Oklahoma City where he attended high school. In high school he discovered his love for rap music. He began to rap in the cypher on the block and freestyle with friends all the time.
