16 ENE. 2025 · Attorney Cherika Edwards is Our Guest to Talk About Enforcement and Modification Cases
All over Texas, there are families working together and co-parents raising kids and keeping everyone on the path to success. Along the way, and after divorce and custody cases, the final orders might not be working anymore like they used to. New people can enter the situation and things change.
People can best handle conflict when they first understand their rights and options. If you want to go to court to modify or enforce an order, those are new cases, filed and served along with the regular court process. Is it necessary to get a new case filed? What are our options? Listen to this family law enforcement and modification podcast to learn more about how Texas Courts work when your court orders no longer do.
Questions and Issues Discussed on This Podcast:
- Why do you love practicing family law?
- What’s something that your colleagues don’t know about you?
- Tell us about your experience connecting with people on social media
- Let’s explain and describe enforcement and modification cases in Texas
- When does someone need an enforcement or modification case filed?
- What are strategies to get to conflict resolution without a full battle?
- If it’s time for battle, how can we best protect our sanity and our kids?

13 ENE. 2025 · Google Owns YouTube
It makes logical sense to create content for YouTube to promote your law firm or small business because Google owns YouTube, and your goal should be to get found on Google. Do you need to spend a bunch of money to maximize your effectiveness in YouTube marketing? In my professional opinion, you don’t need to spend any more than you do with other social media platforms to make Google happy.
While I cannot prove that there is any additional boost to the people who have paid accounts, it does make sense that it would help the search engine robots to know who is a reputable business. I always recommend going with the paid version of things and when you can, just start with the first tier.
YouTube is a Major Search Engine
People go to YouTube to learn how to change a tire as well as how to find deals on tires. If you’ve heard people talking about searching for answers on social media, that is a very real activity. On TikTok alone, the search volume is significant and people get lots of their information directly from social platforms including YouTube, first, and before they search on Google.
Because YouTube is indexed for searchability purposes it’s important to create your descriptive content and use all your technical SEO tools when publishing videos on YouTube.
Short Form and Long Content Videos
While I don’t think TikTok is going anywhere, many content creators say they are going to YouTube to find their followers and they are smart, because parking their content on YouTube is a great idea and easy way for people to find them and their short form and longer videos.
The short-form content refers to temporary stories you are likely used to seeing on Meta properties like Facebook and Instagram. YouTube also has a short form section where temporary 24-hour content can be shared without clogging up your YouTube channel where you keep permanently posted videos. An example of long-form content would be a 15 to 30-minute podcast, and podcasts are easy to turn into YouTube videos by adding a static cover image graphic people can view. At the same time, the audio plays in the background of the YouTube video.
Advertising and Sponsored Videos
Anyone used to boosting posts on Facebook or handling ad spending campaigns on Meta can do the same in the YouTube console and dashboard where you can increase your reach by creating sponsored videos searchable by new people. This does not need to be a major financial commitment, the budget can be consistent with your comfort level.
If in the past you passed on YouTube or similar ad spending campaigns, you might want to reconsider them with the advantage of the latest digital technology and algorithms operating in the background which make YouTube a significant advertising contender.
Content Creation and Flexible Strategy
Every social media platform is unique and users have expectations of social media based on experience. It’s a good idea to always ask yourself, “Is this the type of thing people are looking for on YouTube?” As it turns out, there isn’t much out there that is not found on YouTube, and so long as the content is captioned well, categorized, and assembled using the proper content guidelines, it will be easy for people to find your videos.
Being Flexible with social media and content strategy is important because the Internet, social media platforms, and user experiences and expectations are constantly evolving to improve everyone’s experience.
20 DIC. 2024 · This is Nick Augustine here with Scott Davis from Local IQ and today we are explaining On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO, and Technical SEO on the Texas Law Talk Radio network.
Learn how search engines work and why both on-page, off-page, and technical SEO work is necessary to appear in search results and maps.
This part of digital marketing gets confusing and people may not know what they are paying for and how to determine what works. Scott and I will break it down and hope you learn enough to better understand and manage your digital marketing.
Episode Roadmap:
- What Google uses to rank websites and display them in search results
- Everyone says they do SEO but what does that actually mean?
- Examples of On-Page SEO (content, individual web pages)
- Examples of Off-Page SEO (backlinks, listings, off-website efforts)
- Technical SEO and how it works in connection with other SEO work
- Auditing websites for SEO health, broken links, and indexing issues
- Avoiding gimmicks and tricks showing traffic from misleading sources
- The range of work and typical fees; how much do we need?
For nearly 20 years law firms and small businesses have been paying for SEO without really understanding what they were getting and how it all works. If you don’t understand what the expectations are, how do you determine if you’re getting value for your budget?
In advertising and branding basics, it is understood that it takes time and repetition for people to know who you are, and that applies to people as well as search engine robots. Likewise, people talk to one another and ask what the other is doing for marketing and are they paying for SEO. They all agree it’s great and they’ve been told they need it. Then the one asks the other, does it work? They both shake their heads.
To know you are getting results, you have to know what you should expect. If you don’t understand what a vendor is telling you, get help understanding. Many are surprised they do not have to spend as much time and money as others may think to make a meaningful impact in your marketing.
Meanwhile, as everyone is focused on technical SEO and website performance ranking, the best SEO delivers real content of value to the humans who do business with you, so let that always be a primary focus and when you treat your digital marketing like a regular event you’d attend and network, the people know you over time and trust to do business with you or give your name and website link when others ask for referrals.

12 DIC. 2024 · On this episode of Power5, it’s time to get serious about the risks of using generative AI content in your legal marketing. I used it myself because I needed to test things out and see what’s really happening and whether it has value. I even applied for and was hired to a contract position with an AI tech firm in Southlake earlier this year to learn more about AI and its applications.
With 20 years of experience in digital marketing for law firms and small businesses, I have been an expert in content marketing for a long time and have watched technologies and trends come and go. I used to have to learn SEO manually and was taught digital writing for keywords and search engines when I was a writer for major legal publications when I was just getting started, just a few years out of law school.
Here are my topics for today’s episode of Power5 on the Texas Law Talk Radio network:
- Google Rewards Hard Work
- Schools and Courts Check for AI Writing
- AI Output Can Be Wrong and Get You in Trouble with the Bar
- SPAM and Bot Concerns Many Marketing Firms won't Mention
- People Tend to Skim or Ignore AI Written Content
I hope everyone makes educated decisions about their marketing plans for 2025. Ask questions. If you don’t get answers you understand, you might be getting screwed. Dont’ get screwed. Get smart about content and learn about generative AI before you determine if you’re comfortable with it being used in your content. Your website may be at risk of being devalued by the search engines if it thinks you are SPAM.

14 NOV. 2024 · In Episode 3 of Power 5 with Nick Augustine, we explore a theme that feels particularly relevant as the holiday season approaches: the importance of appreciating the quiet people in our lives. For many of us, the holidays seem to come faster every year, and it’s easy to get caught up in the rush. This year, I’m challenging myself to take a step back from the chaos and focus on what matters—relationships that genuinely bring joy and add value to our lives.
I find sending Christmas cards to be one of the most rewarding traditions during this time of year. It’s a simple way to reconnect with people who live their lives quietly, who aren’t always in the spotlight but have a profound impact simply by being themselves. These are the people who don’t create drama, don’t demand attention, and don’t dominate conversations. Yet, they are often the ones who truly matter—the ones who bring light and positivity to our world.
This episode also delves into a broader cultural observation: we often become distracted by the noisemakers in our lives. These are the people who always have strong opinions, who dominate social media, and who never hesitate to share their thoughts loudly. But are these the individuals who truly enrich our lives? In many cases, the quiet ones—the steady, reliable, and sincere people—are the ones who bring us genuine happiness.
This year, I’m setting a personal boundary. I’m no longer sending holiday greetings out of obligation. If I haven’t enjoyed someone’s company or if our relationship has become one-sided, I’m choosing not to invest my time and energy. Instead, I’m focusing on the quiet individuals who may not come to mind every day because they aren’t the loudest, but they are the most valuable.
As we move towards 2025, I’m also excited about the new people I’ll meet. Big changes are coming, and I look forward to connecting with new faces who may play a meaningful role in the next chapter of my life. These might be individuals who, like the quiet ones I value now, don’t seek the spotlight but have a powerful influence.
So, how are you feeling this mid-November, especially in an election year when emotions can run high? Are you struggling to find that festive spirit? If so, you’re not alone. This episode is a reminder to slow down, focus on what matters, and appreciate those who bring real value to your life—whether they’re old friends or new connections.
Let’s make this holiday season about gratitude for the quiet, kind-hearted individuals who make life better. And if you need help with marketing, branding, or finding your professional voice, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help!

7 NOV. 2024 · Welcome to Power 5 with Nick Augustine! In today’s episode, we’re tackling a trend affecting many business people: relying too heavily on digital communication to build new relationships. Digital tools have expanded our reach and played an essential role in branding, but nothing beats the value of real-life connections for those seeking new clients, customers, or referrals. Nick explores how being out in the community, attending events, and meeting face-to-face build the critical “know, like, and trust” factor that’s foundational in business. When people know you in person, your online presence takes on more meaning and authenticity, leading to more robust engagement and brand credibility. Over the years, people have pulled back from in-person networking, which shows how businesses find it harder to gain meaningful engagement online. Social media should augment your real-world presence, not replace it. As we look toward 2025, Nick challenges listeners to make plans to attend events, join networking groups, and put effort into connecting with people in the real world. With this balanced approach, you can establish a more effective digital brand backed by genuine social proof. This episode is perfect for entrepreneurs, business professionals, and anyone looking to build authentic, lasting connections.
