In this epsiode I have an enriching conversation with Lucy Mayes and Ingrid Gaiotto.

In this episode I’m speaking a very special woman and someone I feel blessed to call a friend, Nathalie Brewer.
Nathalie is a true survivor who has faced numerous cancer diagnosis and emerged stronger every time. Nathalie’s journey is one of resilience, and embracing life's uncertainties while playing the 'long game' with cancer. Over the past seven years, she has experienced remission multiple times, always hopeful that the cancer had completely gone. Her story is one of such strength and grace and an inspiring testament to the power of the human spirit and the profound meaning that can be found in life's most challenging moments.

Joe is a psychologist and executive coach and author of “True Perspective”. After graduating with a Master of Organisational Psychology, Joe spent 7 years working for Gallup, a global leader in engagement and strengths based development. He became a strengths based coach, engagement expert and worked with senior leaders all over Asia. Nathalie is an ex-systems biology and cancer researcher turned Narcissism Hacker, consultant and independent medical culture researcher. As a highly attuned observer Nathalie became acutely alive to the fact that toxic behaviours metastasise, just like the tumours she once studied. 27 DIC. 2022 · Welcome to Wellthy Living Conversation episode 68 with special guest Amy Loughren (the real nurse behind the Netflix movie 'The GoodNurse'.)
Amy worked for many years as an overloaded trauma/ICU/ER nurse but in 2003 her life path changed. In this very authentic, open conversation Amy shares her story of unknowingly befriending a serial killer - Charles Cullen in 2001 and her intense journey in helping detectives put him in jail. Amy generously took me through the deep layers of her personal quest in self-discovery this very unique experience took her on.
The conversation was deep and full of thought provoking insights. We talked about friendship, family, trauma, betrayal, denial, boundaries, compassion, accountability, aligning to values, a bigger purpose, breaking intergenerational healing, and more.
There were tangents and that uncovered lots of takeaways.
Normal people can do extraordinary things is one takeaway that Amy would like you to walk away with.

(N.B - we experienced a couple of connection issues that affected the sound quality in parts but it's mostly fine)
Talking about Mental health and mental illness is commonplace these days. They are on the agenda in schools, workplaces, government organisations, community groups, media, and across all social media networks. This is a great step forward in mental health awareness and de-stigmatising mental illness but I wonder how much real-life courageous action people are taking to live a happier, more meaningful, and connected life.
My guest today - Jimi Hunt is someone who takes courageous and some may even say outrageous action to live his best life and in turn has made it his mission to help people be happier and healthier, by making himself happier and healthier, he refers to it as Moving people up the Mental fitness continuum to become mentally fitter.
Jimi is known for his Guinness World Record for building the world's longest waterslide and for flowing down the longest river in New Zealand on a lilo.
In the episode we discussed:
-The difference between mental health and mental fitness
-Why the mental health stats are as they are
-The role society plays in our mental health and the mental illness epidemic
-Where the focus needs to be to change the stats
-The mental fitness continuum and some simple daily steps to move up it
-The importance of radical ownership and personal responsibility
-The role connection plays in mental health and mental fitness
-The importance of groups or accountability partners in order to improve mental wellbeing
-How do we get and stay motivated?
-The importance of role modeling as a way to teach
-The effectiveness of a peer-to-peer model in creating a ripple effect
There were so many great takeaways from this episode. Here are five:
1. There's no point in collecting a bunch of great information if we don't do anything with it
2. Consistency is key - take small steps each day
3. The greater the inequity in society the higher the rate of mental illness
4. Content and hang out with people who have done the thing you want to do
5. The greatest motivator is progress

“You can't heal in a workplace, situation or institution that continues to harm you.“ - Nathalie Martinek
With this in mind in this episode, we are going to take a deep dive into burnout and bring awareness to things that contribute to workplace toxicity that rarely get talked about in workplace wellbeing conversations. What it looks like, sounds like, feels like, as well as the wellness initiatives that try to cover up the core systemic problems. There’s much more to the burnout conversation than needs to be addressed and we do our best to highlight some in this episode.
My guest, Nathalie Martinek is a relationship coach and consultant for leaders and executives in healthcare and related industries, globally.
She helps leaders and executives navigate professional and personal relationships with narcissistic people using strategic communication and relational skills while managing risks to their reputation and career progression.
The episode begins by defining burnout in two different ways and goes on to get more specific with the second, less commonly talked about definition.
In this episode, we do not shy away from anything and exposure how buzzwords are often thrown around without considering their true meaning and are often used to create new industries.

The terms - future of work, modern leadership, gender equality, inclusion, humanising workplaces, and employee wellbeing, are all commonplace at the moment, so today I want to dive into a somewhat taboo subject that’s often ignored as part of these topical conversations and traditionally regarded as a medical or personal matter for women and their families only - MENOPAUSE.
Menopause - peri and post, often intersects with a significant time in a woman's career, a time when women are most likely to be occupying top leadership roles. Research shows that the effects of menopause are far more extensive than hot flushes and can include symptoms of anxiety, ‘brain fog, insomnia, exhaustion, joint pain, and heart palpitations and women are suffering in silence out of fear and shame.
Women in leadership roles are on the rise and to maintain their valuable contributions, I believe we need to be more open about what menopause is and how it affects both individuals and organizations.
So to take a dive deep into this topic, I invited Melissa MacGowan as my guest for this Wellthy Living conversation. Melissa is a veteran c-suite executive, leadership coach, menopause educator, and advocate. She has held numerous Human Resources leadership roles around the globe, coaching thousands of people to perform at peak minus burnout.
She founded Meno Collective after she quit her corporate career to follow her passion to educate and empower women and workplaces. to view menopause as a wellbeing, commercial and cultural workplace opportunity.

I chat with “Fatigue Professor” John Toomey to dive deeper into the topic of FATIGUE PREVENTION, what causes it, the implications, impact if not addressed, and ways it can be prevented or at least reduced.
Fatigue is a multi-faceted challenge and requires understanding and knowledge to ensure that it can be kept at bay, or even eliminated.
We will discuss ways to achieve high performance without stepping too far across the fatigue line.
This is not a conversation that focuses just on sleep issues. We will chat about hydration, oxygenation, pH Balance, food, fitness, life purpose, mental health, mindset, and more.
